Abstract
El Centro de Capacitación en Bioconstrucción con Bambú en Potrerillos es una propuesta que impulsa la valorización y uso del bambú como recurso local en este corregimiento, ubicado en las tierras altas del distrito de Dolega, provincia de Chiriquí, Panamá. Se enmarca en la línea de investigación: Tecnología e innovación en el diseño y producción, sublínea: Sistemas constructivos. El proyecto se localiza en la zona suroeste del corregimiento, en una segregación de 3.81 hectáreas de la finca 170, conocida como El Refugio. De esta superficie, 2,613 m² es la huella de infraestructura construida para el centro y el resto, se dividen en infraestructuras vivas: bosque existente, huerto y plantación de bambú. De forma paralela al desarrollo del diseño del centro, la investigación se ha enfocado en revalorizar el bambú, tanto como planta, como material constructivo, evidenciando su potencial en la bioconstrucción desde una perspectiva integral orientada al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de la comunidad de Potrerillos. La propuesta se fundamenta en el estudio de las particularidades del bambú y en el análisis de la evolución de su uso en bioconstrucción, considerando experiencias, casos de estudio y perspectivas globales en Asia y América, y en el contexto nacional. Con base en ello, y en los diagnósticos realizados sobre la presencia y uso actual del bambú en Potrerillos, así como en los resultados de las pruebas geométricas, físicas y mecánicas de Guadua Angustifolia local, se plantea un plan maestro para su aprovechamiento estratégico. El centro busca facilitar el aprendizaje, la investigación, el desarrollo de ideas innovadoras y la difusión de técnicas aplicadas a las especies de bambú encontradas en el área. Todo ello, con el fin de mitigar problemáticas locales, potenciar oportunidades económicas y fomentar el desarrollo sostenible de Potrerillos. La evolución y construcción del proyecto se propone en cinco (5) fases. La primera fase se enfoca en el uso del bambú disponible en la comunidad, incentivando a los habitantes a contribuir con el inventario participativo iniciado en esta investigación. Se prevé que las fases siguientes surjan de los talleres desarrollados en el centro, promoviendo un proceso constructivo colectivo, progresivo y enraizado en el conocimiento del material y del sitio, fortaleciendo así el sentido de pertenencia. La investigación adopta un enfoque metodológico mixto, incorporando análisis cuantitativos (ensayos físicos de materiales, levantamientos) y cualitativos (diagnóstico participativo, entrevistas y observación contextual). The Bamboo Bioconstruction Training Center in Potrerillos is a proposal that promotes the appreciation and use of bamboo as a local resource in this district, located in the highlands of the Dolega district, Chiriquí province, Panama. It falls under the research line: Technology and innovation in design and production, sub-line: Construction systems. The project is located in the southwestern area of the corregimiento, on a 3.81-hectare subdivision of finca 170, known as El Refugio. Of this area, 2,613 m² is the footprint of the infrastructure built for the center, and the rest is divided into living infrastructures: existing forest, orchard, and bamboo plantation. Parallel to the design development of the center, the research has focused on revaluing bamboo, both as a plant and as a construction material, demonstrating its potential in bioconstruction from a comprehensive perspective aimed at improving the quality of life of the Potrerillos community. The proposal is based on the study of the particularities of bamboo and on the analysis of the evolution of its use in bioconstruction, considering experiences, case studies, and global perspectives in Asia and the Americas, as well as in the national context. Based on this, and on the diagnostics carried out on the presence and current use of bamboo in Potrerillos, along with the results of the geometric, physical, and mechanical tests of local Guadua angustifolia, a master plan is proposed for its strategic utilization. The center seeks to facilitate learning, research, the development of innovative ideas, and the dissemination of techniques applied to the bamboo species found in the area. All of this aims to mitigate local issues, enhance economic opportunities, and promote the sustainable development of Potrerillos. The evolution and construction of the project is proposed in five (5) phases. The first phase is focused on the use of bamboo available in the community, encouraging residents to contribute to the participatory inventory initiated in this research. It is expected that the following phases will emerge from the workshops developed at the center, promoting a collective, progressive construction process rooted in the knowledge of the material and the site, thus strengthening the sense of belonging. The research adopts a mixed methodological approach, incorporating quantitative analyses (material physical tests, surveys) and qualitative analyses (participatory diagnosis, interviews, and contextual observation)
